{"id":5308,"date":"2017-02-27T09:09:48","date_gmt":"2017-02-27T09:09:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/paulkagame.com\/_test_&#038;web\/?p=5308"},"modified":"2017-07-15T09:00:35","modified_gmt":"2017-07-15T09:00:35","slug":"statement-on-implementing-the-decision-on-the-institutional-reform-of-the-african-union","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paulkagame.rw\/2025\/?p=5308","title":{"rendered":"STATEMENT ON IMPLEMENTING THE DECISION ON THE INSTITUTIONAL REFORM OF THE AFRICAN UNION"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Gabiro, Rwanda, 26 February 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Today in Gabiro in Rwanda\u2019s\u00a0Eastern Province,\u00a0President Kagame convened a meeting of the team\u00a0of experts advising\u00a0on African Union reform to discuss\u00a0the implementation process.<\/p>\n<p>This follows on\u00a0the 2<sup>nd<\/sup>\u00a0Retreat of Heads of State and Government held in Addis Ababa\u00a0in\u00a0January 2017,\u00a0where\u00a0President Paul Kagame presented the report on the institutional reform of the African Union mandated by the 27<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Summit in July 2016.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a028<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Summit\u00a0of the African Union subsequently adopted the amended reform recommendations and mandated President Kagame to supervise\u00a0the\u00a0implementation\u00a0process, in\u00a0consultation\u00a0with the incoming Chairperson, President Alpha Conde of Guinea, and the outgoing Chairperson, President Idriss Deby Itno of Chad, whom he intends to meet in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Additional consultations\u00a0will continue with other stakeholders,\u00a0in particular the incoming Chairperson of the Commission,\u00a0<a name=\"x__GoBack\"><\/a>with a view to\u00a0putting the reform mechanism into operation without delay.<\/p>\n<p>President Kagame will\u00a0make his first\u00a0report on\u00a0the\u00a0progress made\u00a0in implementing\u00a0the\u00a0decision of the Heads of State on\u00a0institutional reform at the 29<sup>th<\/sup>Summit in July 2017.<\/p>\n<p><strong>END<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gabiro, Rwanda, 26 February 2017 Today in Gabiro in Rwanda\u2019s\u00a0Eastern Province,\u00a0President Kagame convened a meeting of the team\u00a0of experts advising\u00a0on African Union reform to discuss\u00a0the implementation process.
