{"id":2579,"date":"2013-08-07T21:21:58","date_gmt":"2013-08-07T21:21:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/paulkagame.com\/_test_&#038;web\/?p=2579"},"modified":"2017-07-16T22:31:57","modified_gmt":"2017-07-16T22:31:57","slug":"president-kagame-meets-with-africa-governance-initiative-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paulkagame.rw\/2025\/?p=2579","title":{"rendered":"President Kagame meets with Africa Governance Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Kigali, 7 August 2013<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"mso-fareast-language: AR-SA;\">Today, President Kagame received over fifty staff of the Africa Governance Initiative gathered in Kigali for a week of learning, sharing and training referred to as \u201cGovstock\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"mso-fareast-language: AR-SA;\">Asked about the meaning of technical assistance, President Kagame emphasized the role of ownership:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"mso-fareast-language: AR-SA;\">\u201cIf a country does not know what it wants and where it is trying to go, people will be coming from all corners of the world to do the wrong thing. We must insist on ownership. This means being accountable both for failure and reaping the benefits.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"mso-fareast-language: AR-SA;\">Speaking Rwanda\u2019s story of progress, President Kagame explained that Rwanda\u2019s determination to achieve was a result of lessons learned from a difficult past: <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"mso-fareast-language: AR-SA;\">\u201cWe have been made to learn hard lesson to achieve more with less because the situation demands it. It has taught us to defy convention and to think outside of the box.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: 'Cambria','serif'; mso-ascii-theme-font: major-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: major-latin; mso-bidi-font-family: Cambria; mso-fareast-language: AR-SA;\">President Kagame also shared his vision for Africa\u2019s future:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: 'Cambria','serif'; mso-ascii-theme-font: major-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: major-latin; mso-bidi-font-family: Cambria; mso-fareast-language: AR-SA;\">\u201cBlaming others for our problems is in the past. The opportunities are here and we have no excuse to miss them. It is time to leverage Africa\u2019s position to insist on having a fair deal.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: 'Cambria','serif'; mso-ascii-theme-font: major-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: major-latin; mso-bidi-font-family: Cambria; mso-fareast-language: AR-SA;\">Since its founding in 2008, AGI advisors have grown from a staff of 10 to a team of over 50 with project in seven countries.
