{"id":16709,"date":"2021-12-10T22:28:54","date_gmt":"2021-12-10T22:28:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.paulkagame.com\/?p=16709"},"modified":"2021-12-12T08:32:26","modified_gmt":"2021-12-12T08:32:26","slug":"installation-of-dr-precious-moloi-motsepe-as-chancellor-of-the-university-of-cape-town-remarks-by-president-kagame-cape-town-10-december-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paulkagame.rw\/2025\/?p=16709","title":{"rendered":"Installation of Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe as Chancellor of The University of Cape Town | Remarks by President Kagame | Cape Town, 10 December 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Excellencies, Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen:<\/p>\n<p>This is a day to celebrate the formal installation of Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe, as the 6<sup>th<\/sup> Chancellor of the University of Cape Town.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Cape Town is not only one of Africa\u2019s finest universities, it is recognized around the world for excellence.<\/p>\n<p>Among its graduates, we count South Africa\u2019s best and brightest, as well many emerging professionals in my country, and throughout Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The time our students spent on the University of Cape Town campus not only enriched them academically, but prepared them for a productive life of service after graduation.<\/p>\n<p>The chancellor is much more than a symbolic head of the university.<\/p>\n<p>Over time, the incumbent Chancellor of the University of Cape Town has tended to reflect where South Africa is, and where it is going.<\/p>\n<p>Precious is not only an eminent successor to our sister Gra\u00e7a Machel, but an inspiration in her own right, as a physician, a philanthropist, and an entrepreneur.<\/p>\n<p>My family and I are proud to count her and Patrice as friends and, indeed, family members.<\/p>\n<p>Going forward, we want to see an even greater connection between the University of Cape Town and our continent as a whole, as we work to deepen African economic integration and unity.<\/p>\n<p>I wish Precious every success in this role, as she helps lead this university into its next chapter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Excellencies, Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen: This is a day to celebrate the formal installation of Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe, as the 6th Chancellor of the University of Cape Town.
