{"id":16015,"date":"2021-04-13T20:17:39","date_gmt":"2021-04-13T20:17:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.paulkagame.com\/?p=16015"},"modified":"2021-04-16T11:18:19","modified_gmt":"2021-04-16T11:18:19","slug":"raisina-dialogue-remarks-by-president-kagame-13-april-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paulkagame.rw\/2025\/?p=16015","title":{"rendered":"Raisina Dialogue | Remarks by President Kagame | 13 April 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Excellencies<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Ladies and Gentlemen<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>I am honoured to address this year\u2019s Raisina Dialogue.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I thank Prime Minister Modi, the Government of India, and the Observer Research Foundation for the invitation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I was very much looking forward to joining you physically.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>But the need to hold this year\u2019s event in a virtual format, highlights the reality, that the Covid-19 pandemic is not yet over.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Covid is a public health crisis, but it is also a crisis of international cooperation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Access to vaccines is highly unequal. In a situation of scarcity, power and wealth will always set the tempo.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>India, despite its own challenges, has produced most of the vaccine doses sent to Africa, under Covax and related programs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Without India\u2019s production capacity and spirit of solidarity, it is possible that Africa would not yet have received much vaccine at all.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This unsustainable situation demonstrates the opportunity for more ambitious private-sector investments between India and Africa, in pharmaceutical manufacturing, among other areas.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The relationship between India and Rwanda continues to flourish, and our goal is to further deepen our ties.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Rwanda and India continue to collaborate on important infrastructure and development initiatives.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The key objective is to increase the educational and employment opportunities available to young people in both India and Rwanda.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Knowledge, innovation, and the green economy will still be the key drivers of growth after the pandemic.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Observer Research Foundation\u2019s annual Kigali Global Dialogue is another good example.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This event brings a fresh perspective to global debates on development and growth and attests to the increasing multipolarity of our world. I hope that many of you will come to Kigali for the next edition in 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In the meantime, I wish you fruitful deliberations at this year\u2019s Raisina Dialogue, and I thank you.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Excellencies Ladies and Gentlemen I am honoured to address this year\u2019s Raisina Dialogue.
