{"id":148,"date":"2011-03-15T13:18:15","date_gmt":"2011-03-15T13:18:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/paulkagame.com\/_test_&#038;web\/?p=148"},"modified":"2017-07-22T15:16:56","modified_gmt":"2017-07-22T15:16:56","slug":"new-mayors-commit-to-deliver","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paulkagame.rw\/2025\/?p=148","title":{"rendered":"New Mayors commit to deliver"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Kigali, 14 March 2011<\/p>\n<p>Newly elected Mayors have reiterated their determination to accelerate the country\u2019s development and improve the lives of the people who elected them.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking after a meeting between President Kagame and the newly elected Mayors, the Minister of Local Government, James Musoni who also attended said that there is optimism that the new Mayors are better placed to serve the people better.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a great start to the Mayors\u2019 five-year mandate. The President made them understand that the country and the people who elected them have a lot of expectations from them\u2026. We expect things to change\u2026 because the new Mayors are aware of their obligations and\u00a0priorities of the country and the president promised them his personal support.\u201d <!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: 'Cambria','serif';\">Minister Musoni also said that the Government would address growth imbalances among districts and give budgetary support to those which were falling behind to enable them to catch up with others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: 'Cambria','serif';\"> The newly elected Mayor of Karongi Bernard Kayumba who spoke on behalf of other Mayors said: <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: 'Cambria','serif';\">\u201cThis meeting with the President is a great opportunity for us as new Mayors to be able to understand national priorities and work together to achieve the country\u2019s vision.
