{"id":13659,"date":"2018-10-11T15:29:09","date_gmt":"2018-10-11T15:29:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/paulkagame.com\/?p=13659"},"modified":"2018-10-11T15:29:09","modified_gmt":"2018-10-11T15:29:09","slug":"president-kagame-attends-17th-francophonie-summit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paulkagame.rw\/2025\/?p=13659","title":{"rendered":"President Kagame attends 17th Francophonie Summit"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Yerevan, 11 October 2018<\/p>\n<p>President Kagame today joined other Heads of State and Government from member states of the International Organisation of the Francophonie (OIF) for the opening of the 17th edition of Francophonie Summit.<\/p>\n<p>During this year&#8217;s Summit, Rwanda&#8217;s Foreign Affairs Minister Louise Mushikiwabo will be presented as Africa&#8217;s candidate for the Secretary-General of OIF. This follows the\u00a0unanimous decision of the 31st African Union Heads of State Summit held in Nouakchott, Mauritania in July this year to present her as the African Union&#8217;s candidate.<\/p>\n<p>The 17th Francophonie Summit is held under the theme \u201cLiving together in solidarity, sharing humanist values and respect for diversity: source of peace and prosperity for the Francophone Community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, President Kagame met with the Premier-designate of\u00a0Qu\u00e9bec\u00a0Fran\u00e7ois Legault following the latter&#8217;s endorsement of Louise Mushikiwabo. Today, on the sidelines of the Summit, the President held bilateral talks with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada.<\/p>\n<p>OIF was created in 1970 to promote the French language, peace, and sustainable development. Rwanda is a founding member.
