{"id":13170,"date":"2018-08-01T13:39:48","date_gmt":"2018-08-01T13:39:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/paulkagame.com\/?p=13170"},"modified":"2018-08-01T14:26:03","modified_gmt":"2018-08-01T14:26:03","slug":"president-kagame-officiates-swearing-in-of-judges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paulkagame.rw\/2025\/?p=13170","title":{"rendered":"President Kagame officiates swearing-in of Judges"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Kigali, 01 August 2018<\/p>\n<p>President Kagame today officiated the swearing-in of 17 judges from the Supreme Court, the newly-established Court of Appeal, the High Court, and the Commercial High Court.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the ceremony which was held at Parliament in Kimihurura, the Head of State explained that the Court of Appeal was put in place to perform some of the duties previously carried out by the Supreme Court for the latter to focus on upholding the Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Court of Appeal was established to ensure that justice is served in the shortest delay. This is what Rwandans want our justice system to be defined by because we know that \u2018justice delayed is justice denied\u2019,\u201d President Kagame said.<\/p>\n<p>The President called on the newly sworn-in judges to ensure that the reputation of Rwanda\u2019s judiciary keeps improving in order to bolster citizens and foreign investors\u2019 confidence in the country&#8217;s justice system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur justice system should not be subject to corruption and the rulings of judges should not be influenced and should always be impartial,\u201d President Kagame said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kigali, 01 August 2018 President Kagame today officiated the swearing-in of 17 judges from the Supreme Court, the newly-established Court of Appeal, the High Court, and the Commercial High Court.
